The union of exporters and the Turkish government are proposing setting up a business center in Panama that will function as a platform for trade with the rest of the region.

The aim of the Turkish Exporters Assembly is to explore business opportunities in the region, using Panama as a central point and from there to presenting its exports not only to Central America but also to South American countries.

Capital.com.pa reports that "...some Turkish companies are even considering the possibility of locating factories in this business center some in order to comply with the rules of origin and in that way take advantage of the extensive network of Free Trade Agreements (FTA) that Panama has, which will allow preferential access to major markets such as Canada, the United States, Taiwan, Singapore, Chile, Peru and Central American countries."

After participating in a business conference with businessmen the president of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Musytafa Cikrikcioglu, "... stressed that the meeting between Turkish and Panamanian businessmen is a vital element in the interest of both countries through an increase in bilateral trade, an area in which, in his view, there is much room for growth, as in 2015 Turkey's exports to Panama totaled only $166 million those from Panama to Turkey totaled $19 million."
